Nuri, a beekeeper, and Afra, his artist wife, live a peaceful life in Aleppo, Syria, until war shatters everything they know. With Afra losing her sight and their home destroyed, Nuri must navigate a perilous journey through Turkey and Greece to reach Britain, where his cousin Mustafa awaits. Mustafa has started an apiary in Yorkshire, teaching fellow refugees beekeeping. As Nuri and Afra confront grief, loss, and the dangers of displacement, they must find their way back to each other and rebuild their shattered lives, in a world that no longer feels familiar.
